Basic statistics for resellers

clock January 23, 2009 15:41 by author Andrew Schofield

If you are wanting to view basic statistics on your suppliers there is now an easy way to view this information. Simply go to your resold product and click on the "details" link next to an operator. This will bring up a screen similar to the below:

From here you can select a date range (the default is all time) and BookIt will tell you:

  • the total number of booking requests (e.g. confirmed, cancelled, declined)
  • the total number of confirmed bookings
  • the conversion rate (e.g. how many booking requests actually converted)
  • the total value of confirmed bookings

Thanks Garry at New Zealand Tourism Guide for this useful suggestion!

Remember there is still the full suite of reports in BookIt should you require more detailed reporting. Also this function is only available to resellers. Suppliers should use the existing reports menu when logged into BookIt.

Changes to the inventory manager

clock January 16, 2009 11:39 by author Andrew Schofield

We've just rolled out a new version of the inventory manager. Its now even easier to manage your inventory online and allow customers to make real-time bookings with your property.

Here is what the new inventory manager calendar looks like:

The main changes include:

  • Ability to set a minimum stay period on individual days for accommodation operators
  • Simplified interface
  • Easier to make changes to multiple days without tabbing between cells
To update your inventory you simply need to click and drag a selection of days and then enter the number of products available and/or a special rate / minimum stay period if applicable. You can also update a product as "sold-out" by entering "0", or "on-request" by entering "R".

Improvements to the Booking System

clock December 14, 2008 16:20 by author Andrew Schofield

One of the great things about BookIt is the "software as a service" (SaaS) model that our business is built around. What does this mean? It means that we can easily roll out new features to the booking system without requiring our customers to install complex upgrades. It also means that if one of our clients requests a new feature, then all our clients benefit because that feature becomes available to everyone.

To give you some examples, we've recently rolled out a few new features to the BookIt booking system:

Feature 1: When selecting a date, the availability of a product is dynamically checked "on the fly"
The customer can instantly see what dates are available, not available or "on request"

Feature 2: Improvements have been made to the cross-selling system
Making it even easier for customers to add more bookings with either the same supplier or 3rd party suppliers

Feature 3: A progress indicator when saving changes
Re-assures the customer while the page loads

We think these features will make the booking process even easier to use for customers. We've got plenty of new features in the pipeline and as always we welcome your feedback. What new features would you like to see?

Google Analytics Tracking Code

clock December 3, 2008 09:12 by author Andrew Schofield

Does the BookIt system support tracking code such as Google Analytics? You bet! BookIt can even track conversions and e-commerce data.

If you would like to use Google Analytics on your BookIt booking pages please follow these steps:

  1. Log into Google Analytics and activate e-commerce tracking
  2. Send us your Google Analytics tracking code by following these steps
  3. We will then install the tracking code into your BookIt pages
  4. We'll also activate conversion and e-commerce tracking on the BookIt confirmation page so you can see what people are booking, for how much and what their BookIt reference is

Once the tracking code is installed you can see all sorts of useful data and wizzy graphs:

Please note a setup charge applies for the installation of Google Tracking code. Contact us for more details.

Download a bank reconcillation report in Excel format

clock November 4, 2008 11:53 by author Andrew Schofield

Did you know that you can download a bank transaction reconcillation report in Microsoft Excel format? This is useful for clients with very large weekly settlements containing a lot of individual line items. Please follow these steps the day after payment has been made to your account:

  1. Log into BookIt at http://business.bookit.co.nz
  2. Click the "Reports" tab
  3. Click "View" next to "Completed Payments"
  4. Enter the date range you would like to query. If you are just trying to reconcile a single bank transaction, set the start and end dates to the date the payment was made to your bank account
  5. Click "Update"
  6. After a few moments the report will appear
  7. Choose Excel from the dropdown menu and click "Export":

  8. You will be asked to save or open the file. Click "Open" to view the file in Excel.

Please contact us should you require assistance, or leave us a comment.

Intercity Group expands use of BookIt

clock October 16, 2008 13:58 by author Andrew Schofield

Today we launched BookIt for two new divisions of Intercity Group:

We also updated the existing BookIt online booking systems that were running for Great Sights and Fullers Bay of Islands to match the "look and feel" of their recently revamped websites. We think the new designs look fantastic and are great examples of how BookIt can seamlessly integrate with existing websites, ensuring a smooth user experience for users.

Ben Viall from Intercity Group had this to add:

"As always the BookIt team were a joy to work with and helped us seamlessly migrate our sites onto their booking system."

BookIt looking to integrate with Xero

clock October 7, 2008 09:34 by author Andrew Schofield

Xero is an online accounting system designed for small businesses and their advisors. It’s simple, smart and secure. We use it and love it and we think our suppliers could benefit from it too.

To try and make all lives all a bit easier we are looking to integrate BookIt with Xero. This will allow our weekly settlements to be automatically downloaded into Xero. If you would to participate in trialing this integration we would be happy to work with you - please contact us for more information.

If you are not a Xero customer we would encourage you to check it out. It really does simplify accounting.

Kiwi Experience and Feejee Experience

clock October 2, 2008 12:09 by author Andrew Schofield

Today we launched BookIt for both Kiwi Experience and Feejee Experience, the premier hop-on, hop-off bus service in New Zealand and Fiji. One of the neat things about the way we have implemented BookIt is the upsell system where customers can add complementary passes and special offers to the base pass they have selected. We think it works pretty well - have a look for yourself.
